Yacht Cam FAQ
Do you have documentation for connecting our branded screen to the camera?
We do not have specific documentation per brand. The camera ships with several universal adaptors and connects to any screen with F-TYPE, BNC, RCA or HDMI (Yacht Cam Bright).
Can you briefly explain the presets?
Every PTZ camera stores up to 256 presets — saved pan, tilt and zoom positions you can recall instantly from the joystick or keyboard controller.
How do you connect the camera and the joystick together?
The keyboard controller talks to the camera over RS-485 or Ethernet using the PELCO-D / PELCO-P protocol; match the baud rate (2400–19200 bps) on both ends.
Is Ethernet connection with an IP address?
Yes. Over the network the camera streams H.264 and speaks HTTP, RTSP, TCP, UDP and ONVIF, with up to 10 simultaneous live views.
Is there live video stream while away from Yacht Cam?
The camera outputs a dual H.264 network stream over ONVIF/RTSP, so it can be viewed remotely on any compatible video-management system on your network.
Is this camera compatible with my devices on board?
Yes. Yacht Cam is helm-compatible with Raymarine, Garmin and Furuno displays and connects to any screen with F-TYPE, BNC, RCA or HDMI.
What is focus adjustment?
The visual camera supports auto and manual focus with auto-iris control, so you can lock focus on a target or let the camera adjust automatically.
What is MOB and Docking mode?
MOB (man-overboard) mode tunes the image to show more detail of a person in the water; Docking mode sharpens close-range detail to find docking obstacles easily.
What is the camera efficiency in thick fog, capturing logs, buoys, etc.?
The uncooled thermal core sees heat rather than light, so it cuts through darkness and haze to reveal logs, buoys and vessels — with detection ranges up to 3,500 m for a small vessel.
What is the color code to connect keyboard controller to the camera?
Wiring depends on your run; the controller connects over RS-485 or Ethernet. Contact our team for the wiring diagram that matches your configuration.
What is the Ethernet/POE connector for? Is that an option to power the controller?
Yes. The keyboard controller can be powered over POE or DC 10.8–28V, and the same Ethernet link carries control data to the camera.
What is the protocol over the Ethernet connection? Do you have documentation?
Control uses PELCO-D / PELCO-P; video uses HTTP, RTSP, TCP, UDP and ONVIF. Contact our team for the integration documentation.
What is the tracking feature?
On tracking-equipped units the camera reads NMEA0183 radar strings, computes the target from the current vessel position, and actively follows it.
What is the voltage for the joystick and for the camera?
The camera runs on DC 10.8–28V (IP67); the keyboard controller runs on POE or DC 10.8–28V and draws under 1.6 W.
